… got a computer for Christmas but is not sure how to use it?

If you’re reading this you’re probably OK with computers, but what about people you may know who couldn’t get this far?

These days so many jobs  – even those that have nothing to do with computers – ask people to apply on-line or get details from a website.

Basic computer skills should not be holding people back – especially if the work has very little to do with computers.

If you’ve got a friend or relative who’s nervous about computers our FREE Move IT forward programme may be just the thing for them.

This is an informal one-to-one programme based at the Reuse Centre in Lliswerry.

As ever there are some restrictions on who can apply for this FREE programme …

  1. If they’re 25 plus, have been out of work for more than one year and are living in Newport

  2. If they’re over 54, unemployed and live in Newport.

After more than 20 years working in admin, Eileen was made redundant last year. She found the programme via the job centre and took the course in the autumn.

“I desperately wanted to improve on my digital skills and bring myself out of the ark! My children and grandchildren all use smart phones, tablets and laptops and although I have a laptop, I couldn’t use it!

“Immediately I felt the relaxed atmosphere and my 1 to 1 digital training began. Anything that I needed to learn, from CV writing to using the software PowerPoint, was approached with support and patience.”

“I haven’t looked back since … and I’m more hopeful about getting back into the job market.”
