First check if it’s recyclable at all.

Here’s a short clip from a piece we did with BBC Wales X-Ray last Christmas.

A lot of Christmas wrapping paper cannot be recycled – do the simple scrunch test …

If it is paper rather than plastic – then put it in with your cardboard.

This is because almost all Christmas wrapping paper is already made out of recycled paper.

Paper is made from small wood fibres. Each time a piece of paper is recycled these fibres shorten.

Cardboard is made from shorter fibres than office quality paper.

In this respect Christmas wrapping paper is more like cardboard than office paper.

If you are not sure, play safe and just put it in with the cardboard.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas.
