The Reuse Centre in Phoenix Park is back open and helping families in need thanks to support from the National Lottery Community Fund

The £34,605 emergency grant will help Wastesavers Charitable Trust safety test donated household items and computing equipment. These will then be made available to households in need, and to support agencies working with vulnerable people and families affected by lockdown.

The £34,605 emergency grant will help Wastesavers Charitable Trust safety test donated household items and computing equipment. These will then be made available to households in need, and to support agencies working with vulnerable people and families affected by lockdown.

Alun Harries, Charity Manager with Wastesavers said: “Normally the furniture we sell pays for our social inclusion and support work with vulnerable individuals and families, but the Covid-19 crisis meant we couldn’t do this just when many more people are in need of support in our communities.”

“We can now take donations again, but it’s not as simple as passing something straight on” he continued. “Someone may donate an unwanted lamp or laptop, for example, but we have to make sure it passes current safety regulations and we can only do that with trained staff.”

“Without the funding we would not be able to open again. It’s a big thank you to the National Lottery players who made this possible.”

The Reuse Centre is now open Monday to Friday 9:30am till 3:30pm.

Canolfan Ail-ddefnyddio’n ail-agor diolch i Gronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol

Mae’r Ganolfan Ail-ddefnyddio ym Mharc Phoenix yn ôl ar agor ac yn helpu teuluoedd mewn angen, diolch i gymorth Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol.

Bydd y grant argyfwng o £34,605 yn helpu Ymddiriedolaeth Elusennol Wastesavers i brofi diogelwch eitemau o’r cartref ac offer cyfrifiadurol sydd wedi eu rhoi. Bydd y rhain wedyn ar gael i gartrefi sydd mewn angen, ac i asiantaethau sy’n gweithio â phobl fregus a theuluoedd sydd wedi cael eu heffeithio gan y cyfnod clo.

Dywedodd Alun Harries, rheolwr Elusen gyda Wastesavers: “Fel arfer, mae’r dodrefn rydym yn ei werthu yn talu am ein gwaith cynhwysiant cymdeithasol a gwaith cymorth gydag unigolion a theuluoedd bregus. Fodd bynnag, roedd argyfwng Covid-19 yn golygu nad oedd modd inni wneud hyn, pan oedd llawer mwy o bobl yn ein cymunedau angen cymorth.”

“Gallwn nawr gymryd rhoddion eto, ond nid yw mor syml â phasio rhywbeth ymlaen” dywedodd; “Gall rhywun roi lamp neu liniadur diangen, er enghraifft, ond mae’n rhaid inni wneud yn siŵr ei fod yn pasio’r rheoliadau diogelwch cyfredol, a dim ond gyda staff hyfforddedig y gallwn wneud hynny.”

“Heb y cyllid, ni fyddai modd inni agor eto. Diolch yn fawr i chwaraewyr y Loteri Genedlaethol a wnaeth hyn yn bosib.”

Mae’r Ganolfan Ail-ddefnyddio nawr at agor ddydd Llun i ddydd Gwener 9:30am tan 3:30pm.
