What is a repair cafe
At each Repair Café, many members of the public bring their damaged or broken household items for repair/advice. Typical items include electrical goods, technology, ornaments, bicycles for basic maintenance & guidance, jewellery and more! The Repair Café staff and volunteers then attempt to repair the items. The visitors are encouraged to join in and learn how their item is being fixed so that they can attempt similar repair in the future.

Torfaen Repair Café is set up in partnership with Torfaen County Borough Council and is located in Pontypool Market and opens every Wednesday and Thursday morning 9.30am to 12.30pm.

Maindee Repair Café is located upstairs in the Reuse Centre, Maindee Newport and opens every Wednesday and Thursday 1.15pm to 4pm.

Our repair cafés
The Repair Cafes are set up to stop items being thrown out when they may be able to be fixed and is part of the Welsh Governments commitment to climate change.
We will do our best to fix any broken item free of charge. (Any replacement parts will need to be supplied and paid for by the owner).
We only work from these locations, so if it’s too big for one person to carry, it’s too big for us to fix.
Due to the success of this projects, there may be a wait between dropping the item off and getting it looked at but we will do our best to at it as soon as possible.
In our first year of fixing items we had 92% success rate at Pontypool and 85% success rate at Maindee, of fixing broken items brought to us.
